Bottles and Branded Utility

Guinness%20top.jpg

Branded Utility is a great concept - the idea of a brand adding interestingness and usefulness to your life beyond a simple message. I was reminded of the power of being interesting by a post on the Guinness blog.

An idea we would have described as sales promotion at the time being discussed nearly 50 years later. That is pretty impressive.

For some reason, two things leap into my mind when we discuss branded utility - Jacob's Cream Cracker Tins (Daren to thank for that, I seem to remember) and a single serve PG Tips teapot I've got at home. My mother gave it to me when I went to University.

This type of thinking seems so obvious offline, but so tricky digitally. It shouldn't be.
