The Naked CEO
Relax, it's not the latest golden ticket prize, but a fascinating article in March's Wired Magazine.
“There's a whole class of CEOs who can hardly write an email. But I feel like in this new digital world, there are haves and have-nots, and people who can't write convincingly - they're leaving themselves defenseless. The people who clearly enjoy writing and blogging are like CEOs 2.0 - they have competitive advantage over other CEOs.”
The idea of transparency is a fairly old one, and there are always companies who have flourished by being more open about what they are doing (Do you gravitate towards takeaways with open kitchens?).
Similarly, there are always those that have prospered for other reasons, such as having the best products, or the cheapest price. This is still true - but the web does allows access to information more efficiently. This is a problem for those whose businesses focus on the control of information, rather than making good stuff people want to have. Which can only be a good thing.
